The Holiday:
The best week of their life. That’s what so many young people say when they get home from Sandiley Camp. We can’t wait to welcome you to a week packed full of challenges, fun, wide games and day trips (to Bridlington beach/pool & FlamingoLand theme-park/zoo). Each evening we meet to learn more about God together, then finish the day with hot chocolate and even MORE fun! It's 8 days of amazing food, ridiculous games, encouraging leaders and time to explore faith! We can’t wait to be back!
The Location :
Our camp is sited on a secluded farm on the outskirts of the village of Gristhorpe, near Filey, in a beautiful part of North Yorkshire. We are proud of the fact that Sandiley is one of the few Ventures that are still under canvas. Sleeping accommodation is in modern tunnel tents shared with 5 - 6 young people of a similar age and under the supervision of two leaders. We have two marquees that host a range of daytime activities, including our mealtimes, evening meetings, games and space to hang out, but we also LOVE being outside and spend lots of time enjoying the fresh air, whether that’s for water games, a barn dance, or a night wide game using torches!
The Activities and The Programme:
We can't believe how much we pack into a day at Sandiley Camp! Our day always begins by eating breakfast as a tent group and catching up with each other. This is usually followed by playing challenges in teams to win points, a whole camp activity (such as a wide game or barn dance!), amazing seminars and then free time to be creative, grab some tuck & chill out! On some days, we head out on trips such as swimming, games on the beach, and Flamingo Land theme park/zoo (all covered in the price). There’s always loads of time to relax and hang out with new & old friends. After more amazing food, we’ll spend time together getting to know who God is, asking big questions and hearing great talks! After winding down with hot chocolate, our After Hours activities begin, with things like our legendary Night Wide Game, Film Nights, Glow Stick Gladiators or Karaoke Night. Whether you love sport, games, art, music, going deeper in faith or just hanging out – there’s something for everyone!
The Team:
Each year, Sandiley has a team of amazing and dedicated leaders who come from up and down the country to make the camp happen. They love serving on the team, helping others engage with God, and making sure everyone has a great holiday. We also have a team of junior leaders who support the running of the Venture whilst learning and improving their leadership skills. This is all made possible by the support of our incredible team of cooks and technical staff. We often find that young people say that the encouragement and fun that the leaders bring to Sandiley Camp is a highlight, which we are so grateful for.
